The Monroe boys golf team doesn’t have a true No. 1 golfer right now. In a way, the Bearcats have three of them. Monroe coach Kathleen Potthast has used three golfers — Kaleb Asbury, Chase Pack and Parker Langston — in the top spot so far this spring.
“We have challenges every week at practice. They like the competition,” Potthast said. “They get along really well, but they’re competitive — they want that No. 1 spot, and will push for it all season.”
Potthast said she hopes that at least one of her golfers can qualify for the Class 4A state meet. Langston was a state alternate last year as a freshman.
“Parker is playing well right now,” Potthast said. “He’s young, so he just has to keep his focus. If he does that, he’ll be fine.”
