Monroe edges Cascade in OT in girls basketball

MONROE — Emilee Ojalehto’s one point proved to be the difference.

The Monroe guard hit the front end of a one-and-one free throw attempt with five seconds remaining in overtime to lead the Bearcats to a 55-54 Wesco North victory over Cascade Tuesday night.

“This was a great win for us,” Monroe Coach Branda Anderson said. “It was a close game the whole time and for us to pull out a victory over a great Cascade team was a huge win for a young team.

The Bearcats’ Sammi Clark had 16 points and pulled down some huge rebounds down the stretch, according to Anderson.

“She played great tonight and kept us in it. It was an all-around great team game,” Anderson said.

Emily Drivstuen added 15 points for Monroe. Danielle Love scored 16 points to pace the Bruins.
