Kris Sanchez is producing some monster numbers in his second pro season.
Sanchez, a first baseman who batted .227 last year for the Everett AquaSox, has six multi-hit games and entered Tuesday with a .400 average for the Class A Pulaski Mariners.
He batted .567 last week and was one of three Pulaski players to share the Appalachian Player of the Week award.
Outfielder Kalian Sams, who batted .225 last year with the AquaSox, and pitcher Ken Kasparek also won the award.
Sams homered in four straight games last week, including two in Pulaski’s 14-3 victory over Princeton on Friday. Sams is batting .233 with six homers and 14 RBI this season.
Kasparek, a 6-foot-8 right-hander who had a 3.76 ERA for the University of Texas this year after missing the 2007 season because of Tommy John surgery, is 3-0 with a 2.70 ERA in four starts. He allowed seven baserunners in 12 innings of his two starts last week, with 16 strikeouts and one walk.
The Mariners entered Tuesday 11-8 and second in the Applachian League East, 1½ games behind Danville.

Class AAA Tacoma Rainiers: Closer Jared Wells suffered his first blown save this season in Monday’s loss at Salt Lake after saving 15 straight.
Wells, a right-hander, is 1-1 with a 5.85 ERA and, until Monday, had saved 22 straight dating back to Aug. 3, 2007.
The Rainiers had lost three of their past 10 games entering Tuesday, leaving them 45-46 and 9½ games behind Salt Lake in the Pacific Coast League Pacific North Division.
Second baseman Tug Hulett entered Tuesday with a .294 average after batting .432 with seven RBI in his previous 10 games. He’d gone 7-for-17 in a four-game stretch, including a two-homer game at Portland on July 4.
Left-hander Ryan Feierabend, on the disabled list because of a forearm problem, began a rehab assignment last week with rookie-level Peoria, allowing one hit, two walks and two earned runs in two-thirds of an inning Saturday.
First baseman Bryan LaHair had missed seven straight games because of a foot injury and outfielder Michael Saunders missed four games because of a tight hamstring.
Class AA West Tennessee Diamond Jaxx: First baseman Marshall Hubbard is back from a stint on the DL and homered Monday, his sixth this season, against Montgomery. Hubbard is batting .342 with 34 RBI.
Outfielder Brent Johnson was batting .309, catcher Adam Moore .300 with eight homers and 48 RBI and outfielder Mike Wilson .274 with 19 homers and 58 RBI.
The Diamond Jaxx were 47-43 and four games behind first-place Huntsville in the Southern League North.
Class A High Desert Mavericks: Second baseman Chris Minaker, of Edmonds-Woodway High School, batted .317 with five doubles and six RBI in a 10-game stretch entering Tuesday. It lifted his season average to .295 with 44 RBI.
Outfielder Leury Bonilla raised his average to .301 after batting .343 in a 10-game stretch.
The Mavericks were 8-10 and four games behind first-place Inland Empire in the California League South second-half standings.
Class A Wisconsin Timber Rattlers: Second baseman Edilio Colina was 8-for-16 in a three-game stretch through Monday, with two of his three home runs. He’s batting .291 with 36 RBI this season.
First baseman Ronald Garth was batting .267 with four homers and 28 RBI, having batted .350 with two homers in his previous 10 games.
Right-handed pitcher Michael Pineda is 5-4 with a 2.06 ERA in 11 starts.
The Timber Rattlers had a 3-15 second-half record, putting them nine games behind first-place Beloit in the Midwest League Western.
Rookie Peoria Mariners: Left-hander Richard Ortiz had a 1.17 ERA in five relief appearances, with eight strikeouts and one earned run in 72/3 innings.
Second baseman Cesar Fuentes was batting .327 with two homers, both on July 3 against the Giants, and shortstop Jharmidy DeJesus was batting .319 and went 10-for-16 with three doubles in a four-game stretch last week.
