Mora on Holmgren, injuries, and yesterday’s debacle

It looks like the Seahawks will be without Aaron Curry when they play Green Bay this weekend, and they’ll also need a new long snapper.

Kevin Houser, who didn’t finish Sunday’s game, is still in the hospital and has a collapsed lung. The likely replacement will be Jeff Robinson, the Seahawks long snapper last season who has been out of football this season.

As for Curry, he has a stinger on his left side that kept him from finishing yesterday’s game. Jim Mora said Curry will be doubtful for Sunday. Curry came back for one series after the injury, and was unable to get off a block on a touchdown pass in the second half because he had no strength in his arm, Mora said.

Nate Burleson, who missed Sunday’s game with an ankle injury, will likely be out again against the Packers. Mora said they probably won’t put Burleson, who is no longer wearing a boot, on injured reserve, however, so there’s a chance he could play in the final game of the season.

As for Holmgren, Mora said he was disappointed to see that the former Seahawks coach won’t be returning to the organization. Mora said he reached out to his bosses last week to let them know he would be in favor of bringing Holmgren back.

“I was hopeful that he would be back,” Mora said. “It’s no secret that I’m a Mike Holmgren fan, and I was an advocate of him coming back to the point that I made my feelings know to the people that make those decisions. I’m probably as disappointed as anybody that he’s decided to reject our offer and go onward.”
