Bummed that the 4A basketball tournaments are over? Don’t worry. There’s another busy week of high school hoops coming up.

The 3A and 2A boys and girls tourneys start Wednesday. The 3A tourneys are at the University of Washington and KeyArena, while 2A games are at the Tacoma Dome.

So which local teams are involved? There are three Snohomish County squads participating, and two of them represent the same school.

The Meadowdale boys and girls teams qualified for state in 3A. The other local qualifier is Archbishop Murphy, which earned a spot in the 2A boys tourney. Here are first-round pairings for all three teams. For complete brackets, go to wiaa.com.

3A GIRLS: Meadowdale (21-4) vs. Lakes (21-1), 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at UW

3A BOYS: Meadowdale (22-4) vs. Lakes (22-1), 2 p.m. Wednesday at KeyArena

2A BOYS: A. Murphy (12-13) vs. Mark Morris (21-3), 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Tacoma Dome

It’s pretty odd that both Meadowdale teams play Lakes (from Lakewood, Pierce County) opponents in the opening round.

The girls matchup is intriguing: Meadowdale is ranked No. 3 in the final Associated Press 3A poll. Lakes is No. 2.

On the boys side, Lakes is ranked third and Meadowdale is ninth.
