Tips captain Ryan Murray received another honor today as he was one of the 40 players selected for the CHL Top Prospects Game. Again, this was no surprise, but it’s still worthy of congratulations. The Top Prospects Game highlights the top 40 prospects for the upcoming NHL draft who are currently playing in the CHL. Quite honestly, Murray has no need to participate in this game. He’s in his third season in the WHL, he’ll be playing for Canada at World Juniors, I think everyone will know what he’s capable of doing. But anyway, the game is Feb. 1 in Kelowna, and the Tips don’t have a game during the week that week, so Murray wouldn’t miss any Everett games to take part in the Top Prospects Game.
Also, the field for the prestigious Mac’s midget tournament has been released, and Alan Caldwell has his annual list of WHL prospects who are playing in the tournament. Everett is listed as having eight players taking part, but I can only find seven. All seven are players who attended training camp and were on Everett’s protected list at the time, so no surprise new names this year. Last year Everett center Kohl Bauml was a member of the all-tournament team as his Saskatoon Contacts finished as runners-up.
