A few brief items today:
– Everett’s newest member, forward Clayton Cumiskey, appears slated for a significant role with the Tips. In his Everett debut Tuesday night at Tri-City, Cumiskey skated in the coveted left-wing position next to Shane Harper and Chris Langkow. But Tips coach Craig Hartsburg sounded open to the possibility of experimenting with Cumiskey to see where he best fits. Among the possibilities mentioned was using Cumiskey at center.
– Left wing Dan Iwanski will not play tomorrow against Saskatoon. Iwanski suffered a knee injury early in Tuesday’s game and did not return. The full extent of the damage has not yet been determined.
– Prospect Tyler Giebel is in town and practicing with the team. The 16-year-old forward is having a good season with the Regina Pat Canadians of the SMAAAHL. On the weekly update on the WHL website Giebel is listed as an addition to the roster. However, it doesn’t sound likely he’ll get into a game.
– Lastly, a bit of news from around the league. The Brandon Wheat Kings, who are hosting this season’s Memorial Cup, continue to snap up players in anticipation of making a run, acquiring forward Brent Raedeke from the Edmonton Oil Kings today. That’s one more available player off the trade market, meaning there’s precious few left for those looking to improve their squads. And if you want to see something scary, take a look at Brandon’s top nine forwards now.
