EVERETT — The Washington Stealth placed forward Peter Morgan on the injured-reserve list Tuesday.
Players placed on IR must sit out at least six weeks. The move was retroactive to Jan. 22, meaning Morgan will be eligible to return for Wasington’s National Lacrosse League game March 5 at Edmonton.
Morgan, 33, continues to experience symptoms from a concussion he suffered in the Stealth’s Jan. 8 season opener, the team said in a press release. He joins forwards Jeff Zywicki and Joel Dalgarno on injured reserve.
Morgan, in his 10th NLL season, has appeared in just the one game this year. He played in 13 regular-season contests last season, tallying eight goals and 14 assists in a transition role. He played in two postseason games and his third-quarter goal in the Champion’s Cup Final sparked the eight-goal run that led to the Stealth’s 15-11 win over Toronto.
To replace Morgan the Stealth signed rookie forward Martin Cummings to the active roster, pending league approval.
Cummings joined the Stealth in August as a free agent and earned a spot on the practice squad. He spent the past two summers playing with the New Westminster Salmonbellies of the Western Lacrosse Association. In 28 career regular-season games with New Westminster Cummings tallied 48 points (25 goals, 23 assists).
