Mountlake Terrace edges Monroe 2-0 for final district playoff berth

MOUNTLAKE TERRACE – Jamie Foote and Megan Watson had back-to-back RBI singles in the fifth inning to give Mountlake Terrace a 2-0 victory over Monroe in the Class 4A Northwest District fastpitch softball tournament play-in game Tuesday at Mountlake Terrace H.S.

Lindsay Woodhouse pitched a two-hitter for the Hawks, who move on to the first round of the district playoffs Thursday at Skyriver Park in Monroe. Mountlake Terrace will play Wesco North No. 1 seed Lake Stevens at 3 p.m.

3A Northwest District playoffs: Shorecrest earned a state berth and reached the final with a 4-0 first-round victory over Ferndale and a 2-1 semifinal victory over Sedro-Woolley. The Scots play Anacortes at noon Saturday at Janicki Fields in Sedro-Woolley for the championship. Meadowdale was eliminated, losing 3-0 to Sedro-Woolley in the first round and 2-1 to Ferndale in consolation play.

3A bi-district meet: Meadowdale’s Jon Keane qualified for next week’s state meet by finishing seventh with rounds of 74 and 76 for a two-day total of 150. Lynnwood’s Ricardo Aguayo grabbed the 14th and final state berth with a 76-81-157.

4A Northwest District tournament: Grace Bhak of Jackson earned a berth in the singles bracket with a 6-2, 6-1 play-in victory over Jessica Bell of Snohomish. In doubles, Katie Dutton and Thao Le of Everett defeated Kailee Mallos and Sarah LeBar of Cascade, 6-3, 7-5. The meet continues Thursday at Arlington H.S.
