Mountlake Terrace pitcher shuts down Kamiak

MUKILTEO — Kamiak’s aspirations of catching first-place Mountlake Terrace were thwarted by Jake Theis Tuesday night.

The senior picher threw a complete game, surrendered just one hit and the visiting Mountlake Terrace Hawks romped to a 13-0 Wesco South victory.

“Jake had a fantastic game,” Terrace head coach Andrew Watters said. “He kept his pitch count down … He threw strikes, he had fantastic control.”

Theis went to a three-ball count just once and threw 75 pitches.

The Hawks scored five runs in the third inning, and added eight in the seventh to turn the contest into a blowout.

Jacob Sells laid down a bunt in the third, and two runners scored on a Kamiak error to get Terrace on the board.

“We executed pretty well,” Watters said. “We’ve (scored) in big innings.”

Matt Schafer chipped in a double for the Hawks and four other Terrace players added two hits apiece.
