Mountlake Terrace’s Stoyanov named 2A player of year by WSSCA

Numerous other local boys soccer players earn all-state honors.

Mountlake Terrace star Bobby Stoyanov was chosen as the 2A boys soccer state player of the year by the Washington State Soccer Coaches Association, which announced all of its all-state honorees for the 4A, 3A, 2A and 1A classifications Tuesday.

Stoyanov, who was also the Herald’s 2018 Boys Soccer Player of the Year, shattered the Hawks’ single-season scoring record in his senior campaign, netting 47 goals to go alongside 14 assists.

Stoyanov, a forward, spent the fall of 2017 playing for the Sounder Academy and will attend the Richmond International Academic and Soccer Academy in England beginning in December.

Local players receiving all-state first-team honors include Glacier Peak senior midfielder Keegan Rubio (4A), Shorecrest senior forward Elliot Misic (3A), Snohomish senior forward Conner Smith (3A), Marysville Pilchuck senior midfielder Daniel Amador (3A) and Archbishop Murphy senior midfielder Sam Johnson (2A).

Local players earning second-team accolades include Monroe senior forward Marcos Arellano (4A), Kamiak senior defender Cade Cooke (4A), Glacier Peak senior defender Favi Zenteno (4A), Shorewood senior goalkeeper Nathaniel Poole (3A) and King’s senior forward Atley Shapiro (1A).
