The Seattle Mariners are scheduled to open their 2013 baseball season on April 1 at Oakland, with their home opener taking place one week later against the Houston Astros.
Major League Baseball released the tentative 2013 schedule on Wednesday.
The Mariners have opened each of the past four seasons on the road, three of them against Oakland. Seattle and Oakland kicked off the 2012 season in March in Japan.
After four games in Oakland and three in Chicago against the White Sox, the Mariners return to Seattle for their home opener against the Astros on April 8. Houston moves from the National League Central to the American League West next season, giving both the AL and NL 15 teams. The move guarantees interleague matchups on every day of the 2013 season.
Seattle begins interleague play May 7-8 at Pittsburgh. The Mariners will play a total of 20 interleague games from May through September, facing Pittsburgh, San Diego, the Chicago Cubs, Milwaukee, Cincinnati and St. Louis.
