MT girls edge Everett

MOUNTLAKE TERRACE – Nikki Mosman of Mountlake Terrace had 10 of her game-high 17 points in the first half and the Hawks made several key free throws down the stretch to upend the Everett Seagulls 57-55 Wednesday night in a Western Conference South Division contest.

With three seconds remaining in the fourth quarter, Jessica Buxton made one of two free throws to put Mountlake Terrace (3-5 in division, 3-7 overall) ahead by its final two-point margin.

Everett (4-3, 4-5) had a chance to tie or win, but the Seagulls sent a pass out of bounds for a turnover to cement the road loss.

Ashley Grover was 4-for-4 from the free-throw line for Mountlake Terrace. Two of those came late in the third quarter following an Everett technical foul.

Mosman made three 3-point baskets, while Grover converted two.

Erica Hornyak of Everett scored a team-high 16 points and made a game-high four 3-pointers.
