EVERETT – The Snohomish County sports landscape could be growing in the near future, Courtyard Media CEO Nathan Mumm said Wednesday afternoon.
Mumm, whose company already brought an International Basketball League franchise to Everett, confirmed before Wednesday’s Explosion game that he is in the process of purchasing professional indoor football and soccer teams. He has no definite timetable for those teams to begin, but hopes to have them playing by next season.
“I do know that when there’s a good thing out there, I like to jump and do it quickly,” Mumm said.
Mumm added that negotiations to purchase the Everett Hawks football team fell apart, so he plans to buy a team called the Stealth and then decide on which indoor league to join. He acknowledged that there is a possibility that both the Hawks and Stealth could remain in the county.
The soccer team, Mumm said, will target a Latino-based audience. He does not have a venue, but mentioned Everett Memorial Stadium and the city of Snohomish as possible hosts.
