Murphy runs over Black Hills, 49-7

TUMWATER – The Wildcats of Archbishop Murphy ran wild over Black Hills of Olympia 49-7 Saturday afternoon to take the non-league victory at Tumwater High School.

The Wildcats amassed 430 yards of total offense with 375 coming from the ground attack. Running back Henry Woods had 16 carries for 165 yards and two touchdowns. Quarterback Patrick Kelly was 3-for-4 for 55 yards and a TD.

The Wildcats’ defense shutdown Black Hills, allowing just 186 yards of total offense with majority of the yards coming in the fourth quarter.

Defensive back Alex Martinez had five tackles and intercepted a Black Hills pass and returned it 65 yards for a touchdown.

Friday Harbor 21, King’s 14: Friday Harbor jumped out to a 21-point lead to hold off King’s in a turnover riddled non-league game. The teams combined for 390 yards total offense and eight turnovers. Zack Berg scored a rushing touchdown and kicked two extra points to pace King’s.

Mariner Invitational: At Everett, the Granite Falls girls volleyball capture the Silver Division title at the Mariner Varsity Tournament, defeating Kent-Meridian 26-26, 25-13, 15-12 in the championship game. Granite falls defeated Nathan Hale 2-0 in the semifinals. Granite Falls was 3-1-1 overall, including earier pool play. Micheala Dudder had 41 kills and 41 digs and Kerry Wesala added 28 digs in the Tigers’ five matches on the day.
