Murphy’s third-quarter burst drops Foster

EVERETT – The Archbishop Murphy Wildcats roared out of the locker room for the second half leading by 10 points and responded by scorching the nets for 25 third-quarter points in a convincing 62-36 non-league victory over the Foster Bulldogs Tuesday.

“We really ran some great fast breaks to start the second half,” said Archbishop Murphy coach John Barhanovich.

Lisa Coate led the balanced Wildcats attack with 14 points. Krista Eknes (eight assists) and Alyssa Smith (six) distributed the ball effectively as Archbishop Murphy out-shot Foster from the floor 54-32 percent.

Valencia Doty’s 17 points accounted for nearly half of the Bulldogs’ points.

“Doty is a great and very active guard,” said Barhanovich. “Our goal was to stop her and we did a good enough job containing her to win.”
