NBA NOTES: Clips’ No. 1 pick out with broken kneecap

LOS ANGELES — Los Angeles Clippers forward Blake Griffin has a broken left kneecap that could sideline the No. 1 overall draft pick for six weeks.

The Clippers confirmed Griffin’s stress fracture late Monday night. The team will reveal further information Tuesday.

Griffin won’t be in the Clippers’ lineup when they face the Lakers in their opener tonight, and the former Oklahoma star could be out much longer.

Cavs’ West accused of domestic violence

The wife of Cleveland Cavaliers guard Delonte West has filed a domestic violence report against her husband. In the report, she says that Delonte West had accused her of cheating on him and that they had argument in which he grabbed her and took her wedding ring and purse. Police said Monday the case remains under investigation and that no charges have been filed.

Hornets exercise option on Wright

The New Orleans Hornets have picked up swingman Julian Wright’s option for the 2010-11 season. Wright is a former first-round draft choice entering his third NBA season and is expected to be in the starting lineup when the Hornets open the regular season at San Antonio on Wednesday.

Blazers F Batum to undergo surgery

Portland Trail Blazers forward Nicolas Batum will undergo surgery on his right shoulder to repair torn cartilage. The team said a return date will be determined after Friday’s surgery in Los Angeles. Batum appeared in 79 games as a rookie last season, averaging 5.4 points and 2.8 rebounds.

Cavs pick up option on Hickson

Cleveland exercised their third-year option on forward J.J. Hickson on Monday. Hickson’s extension keeps him under contract with the Cavaliers through the 2010-11 season.

Suns awarded rights to Collins

Phoenix were awarded the rights to center Jarron Collins, who was waived last week by the Portland Trail Blazers. The 6-foot-11 Collins is an eight-year NBA veteran who played for the Utah Jazz.
