Heat’s Wade misses practice

Miami guard Dwyane Wade sat out practice Monday to get treatment on a sprained right ankle. Wade is listed as a game-time decision in Miami’s matchup in Washington today. He got hurt during the third quarter of Sunday’s 107-96 loss to the Toronto Raptors, but was able to complete the game.

Shaq, Garnett penalized

Boston Celtics star Kevin Garnett was suspended for one game and Phoenix center Shaquille O’Neal was fined $25,000 by the NBA on Monday for separate incidents over the weekend.

Garnett was penalized for hitting Milwaukee’s Andrew Bogut in the face near the end of Saturday’s game. Garnett will sit out tonight when the Celtics host the New York Knicks. O’Neal was fined for verbally abusing an official and failing to leave the court quickly after being ejected Sunday night against Detroit.

Thunder’s Mason out 10 days

Oklahoma City forward Desmond Mason will miss about 10 days with a sprained right elbow. Mason, a reserve averaging 8.4 points and 3.9 rebounds, said Monday night that he hurt the elbow in the Thunder’s third game of the season against Minnesota and it flared up after their game Friday against New York.

Warriors extend Jackson

Goldent State signed Stephen Jackson to a three-year contract extension, a deal that takes the explosive guard-forward through the 2012-13 season. The 30-year-old Jackson is leading the Warriors in scoring at 22.1 points per game to go along with 6.4 assists and 3.9 rebounds in an NBA-best 43.4 minutes through 10 games entering Monday’s action.
