Houston star Tracy McGrady was inactive Wednesday night against Indiana with a sore left knee, but forward Shane Battier was expected to make his season debut after recovering from inflammation in his left foot.
McGrady said before the season that his knee was not fully healed after offseason surgery. He started Houston’s first 15 games and is the Rockets’ second-leading scorer, averaging 15.6 points.
Houston coach Rick Adelman said McGrady’s knee is “a day to day situation.”
LeBron, Microsoft part ways
LeBron James and Microsoft Corp. have lost their Internet connection.
The NBA superstar and the software giant have ended a two-year marketing partnership. James’ spokesman Keith Estabrook confirmed the contract between the Cleveland Cavaliers All-Star and Microsoft is not being renewed.
James appeared in TV ads for Microsoft’s launch of its Windows Vista operating system in early 2007, but aside from the commercials and the Web site no other marketing efforts developed.
O’Neal out against Bobcats
Forward Jermaine O’Neal missed a game against Charlotte with a sore left ankle after leaving Toronto’s previous two games because of injuries.
A strained left knee forced O’Neal out in the fourth quarter of Friday’s overtime loss to New Jersey. He returned to the starting lineup in Sunday’s loss to Boston but lasted only 14 minutes before injuring his ankle when he landed awkwardly while taking a jump shot, coming down on the foot of a Boston player.
Bobcats’ Richardson out again
Charlotte guard Jason Richardson missed his seventh straight game when the Bobcats visited the Toronto Raptors. Richardson, who had exploratory surgery on his knee, returned to practice Tuesday, but Charlotte coach Larry Brown decided to hold him out against the Raptors. Richardson hopes to return Friday.
Bucks’ Bogut held out
Milwaukee center Andrew Bogut missed a game against the Atlanta Hawks with a bruised knee, but point guard Luke Ridnour returned after missing a game.
Ridnour missed Monday’s 108-101 loss in Orlando after suffering a scraped and bruised knee at Charlotte on Saturday.
