Oden done for year

PORTLAND, Ore. — Greg Oden underwent surgery on his left patella Sunday, and the Blazers confirmed what they feared all along — that Oden was done for the season.

Oden, drafted ahead of Kevin Durant, has been plagued by injures his entire NBA career.

He missed his rookie season after undergoing microfracture surgery on his right knee. Then last season he missed 20 games with injuries. This season Oden lost weight and was averaging 11.7 points, 8.8 rebounds and 2.4 blocks as a starter.

Cavaliers 101, Bucks 86

MILWAUKEE — Delonte West scored 14 of his season-high 21 points in a 29-0 first-half run to lead the streaking Cleveland Cavaliers. LeBron James had 14 points and 10 assists.

Knicks 106, Nets 97

NEW YORK — Larry Hughes scored 16 of his 25 points in the third quarter, and New York sent New Jersey back to its losing ways.

Pistons 98, Wizards 94

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. — Rodney Stuckey scored 25 points and Charlie Villanueva added 18 as Detroit beat Washington in coach Flip Saunders’ first game at the Palace since being fired by the Pistons after the 2007-08 season.

Heat 115, Kings 102

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Dwyane Wade had 34 points and 10 assists and the Miami Heat never trailed in a 115-102 victory over the Sacramento Kings on Sunday night.

Lakers 108, Suns 88

LOS ANGELES — Kobe Bryant scored 26 points, Ron Artest added 15 points and five steals, and the Los Angeles Lakers raced away from the Phoenix Suns in the second half of their ninth straight victory.

The Heat used a 29-19 second quarter to take control of the game and led by as many as 19 points in the third quarter.

In the fourth, the Kings cut the lead to 97-91 with 5:42 left, but Wade made a pair of jumpers and found Quentin Richardson for a 3-pointer, putting Miami ahead 104-91 with 3:56 remaining.

Michael Beasley had 20 points, helping the Heat beat Sacramento for the 11th time in 12 games. Richardson made five 3-pointers and also had 20 points. Dorell Wright added a season-high 19 points and Udonis Haslem had 25.

Rookie Tyreke Evans scored 30 points for the Kings.

Pau Gasol scored 14 points for the well-rested Lakers, who improved to an NBA-best 16-3 with their second home win in 24 days over road-weary Phoenix.

Two nights after Bryant banked in a 3-pointer at the buzzer in a one-point win over Miami, the Lakers didn’t need another lucky shot. They made a 15-1 run late in the third quarter, holding Phoenix without a field goal for 3½ minutes.

Amare Stoudemire had 18 points and eight rebounds for the Suns, who scored their fewest points of the season while playing in their sixth city in 10 days.
