PATRIOTS: Mike Holovak, a longtime NFL executive who coached the Patriots to their first championship game in 1964, died Sunday. He was 88. Holovak died in Ruskin, Fla., of complications from pneumonia. Holovak was a former football star and coach at Boston College.
New England nose tackle Vince Wilfork has been fined $5,000 for unnecessary roughness during the AFC championship game, his fourth fine of the season.
STEELERS: Ernie Holmes’ funeral was held in Jasper, Texas, on Saturday. Holmes, who died in a car accident Jan. 17, was part of Pittsburgh’s famous “Steel Curtain” defensive line that helped the team win the Super Bowl in 1975 and 1976.
