NFL notes

SEAHAWKS: Quarterback Matt Hasselbeck said that he does not have a preference for the type of person he would like to replace quarterbacks coach Jim Zorn, who left the Seahawks recently to become Washington’s offensive coordinator.

Hasselbeck said he is not even sure who in the organization is going to be making the decision about whom to hire because it is Mike Holmgren’s final season as the team’s coach.

“Whoever makes that decision, they will make the decision on somebody that obviously is going to work well with me and everybody, with the group and is a good fit, short term, long term,” Hasselbeck told The News Tribune on Wednesday. “There are some things up in the air so I don’t even know who is making that decision. All I know is it’s not me.”

REDSKINS: Washington is scheduled to formally interview Steve Mariucci for their vacant head coaching position this week. Mariucci has been an analyst for the NFL Network for two years.

RAMS: St. Louis hired Al Saunders as offensive coordinator. Saunders was fired by the Redskins after two seasons as offensive coordinator.

49ERS: Ted Tollner was named quarterbacks coach.

BENGALS: Quarterback Jordan Palmer, brother of starting quarterback Carson Palmer, signed a two-year deal with Cincinnati.

JAGUARS: Gregg Williams, former assistant head coach-defense of the Redskins, interviewed Tuesday in Jacksonville and has drawn interest from Tennessee, St. Louis and Dallas.

PRO BOWL: Chargers running back LaDainian Tomlinson withdrew from the game. The Ravens Willis McGahee will replace him.
