OXFORD, Miss. — Mississippi coach Houston Nutt says he isn’t surprised he’s been asked to resign.
Nutt said Monday at a press conference “the thing about the SEC that I know, they pay you to win.”
The fourth-year coach didn’t do that enough. The Rebels have lost 12 consecutive Southeastern Conference games, including Saturday’s 30-13 loss to Kentucky. Mississippi is 2-7 this year, including 0-6 in the SEC. Nutt is 24-23 in his four years in Oxford.
Nutt makes approximately $2.7 million this season and Ole Miss is responsible for a $6 million buyout.
Nutt occasionally raised his voice, saying he was proud of his players and coaches and didn’t think the Rebels were “far off.” Nutt will coach the final three games and says “you’re going to get our very, very best.”
