The Tips were back on the ice in Lynnwood today. Dan Gendur was back from attending camp with the NHL’s Vancouver Canucks, though he didn’t skate. He said he enjoyed his first taste of an NHL camp. He wasn’t brought over to main camp because the Canucks only took players who are signed, and Gendur hasn’t signed yet. He played with all kinds of line combinations during rookie camp, with former Spokane winger Michael Grabner one of the more notable members of the group.
As for Everett’s injured players, Carter Smith was back on his skates today. The forward, who suffered a sprained knee during Everett’s preseason tournament two weekends ago, participated minimally in drills. Left wing Jordan Mistelbacher, who’s dealing with the after effects of a concussion, is still sitting out.
Also, I received an e-mail from Bob Abney, Cameron Abney’s dad. He pointed out that his son was actually listed by the Tips prior to rookie camp. That causes things to make more sense to me. I was absolutely baffled that someone that big who could actually play would have slipped through the cracks for a whole year.
