Prep Roundup: Oak Harbor girls swim to a pair of wins

OAK HARBOR — The Oak Harbor girls swimming team remained unbeaten Monday night, taking out both Glacier Peak and Snohomish in convincing dual-meet victories at Vanderzicht pool.

Freshman Laura Rosen led the way for the Wildcats, taking first in two individual events and swimming anchor legs in two relays, Her 1:07.30 in the 100-meter butterfly was a state-qualifying time and she posted her second state-qualifying time of the season in the 400 freestyle. Her seeming inability to tire amazes even her coach Erika Miller.

“I don’t understand it,” Miller said. “I really don’t. Oh, to be 14 again.”

The 14-year-old Rosen has led the way all year for the Wildcats who have designs on the Wesco North title. Oak Harbor is tied with Jackson for first in the league and is the only squad without a loss, its only blemish coming in a nonleague tie at Kamiak.
