PORTLAND, Ore. — Oregon State running back Jacquizz Rodgers is the first freshman to be named Pacific-10 Conference offensive player of the year. Coach Mike Riley has been named the league’s football coach of the year.
USC middle linebacker Ray Maualuga was named the conference’s defensive player of the year.
Rodgers rushed for 1,253 yards and 11 touchdowns for the season. He has an injured shoulder and missed the Civil War game with Oregon. It’s unknown whether he will play in the Sun Bowl Dec. 31.
