A four-session Rod-Building Class is scheduled for Nov. 8, 9, 15 and 16 at Greg’s Custom Fishing Rods in Lake Stevens (12405 20th St. NE). Sessions are from 6:30-8:30 p.m. The class fee is $25. Preregistration is required. For more information, call 425-335-1391.

* The 13th annual Everett Bayside Marine and Bayside Outboards Fishing Derby and Holiday Food Drive is scheduled for Nov. 6-7. Tickets are $30. Donations of five or more non-perishable food items drop the ticket price to $25. There also is a $5 senior-citizen discount. Ticket sales end at 5 p.m. on Nov. 5. Tickets can be purchased at Everett Bayside Marine (1001 14th St. Everett) or Bayside Outboards (1230 W. Marine View Drive, Everett). For more information, call 425-252-3088.

* A meeting of the Whidbey Island Fly-Fishing Club is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Nov. 10 at the Race Road Fire House in Coupeville (1164 Race Road). The social hour starts at 6 p.m. The guest speaker will be Mike Benbow, who will discuss fishing the Grande Ronde, one of Washington’s premier steelhead rivers.

* The Everett Steelhead and Salmon Club’s annual River Fishing and Steelhead Clinic is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Nov. 20 in Floral Hall at Forest Park in Everett. The clinic is free. Demonstrations will include knot tying, slinky making, bait preparation and other skills. For more information, call the Everett Parks and Recreation Department at 425-257-8300.

* The annual Blackmouth Derby sponsored by the Oak Harbor Chapter of Puget Sound Anglers is scheduled for Nov. 6 in Marine Area 8-1. Tickets are available at Ace Hardware and West Marine Express in Oak Harbor, or from 6:30-8 a.m. on the day of the derby at the Oak Harbor Marina. * The Skagit Valley Chapter of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation meets at 6:30 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month in the portables behind the truck building at Skagit Valley College in Mount Vernon. For more information, call 360-428-8888.

* The Sky Valley chapter of Trout Unlimited meets at 7 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month in the Snohomish County PUD building in Monroe. For more information, call 360-794-6378.

* The Northwest Chapter of the Washington Waterfowl Association meets at 7 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month in the Conway Fire Hall. For more information, contact Rone Brewer at nwducks@snohomish.net.
