A refreshing, post-Christmas drive to the Columbia Basin could result in the first ice fishing opportunity for most Washington residents in a number of years.
Mike Meseberg at MarDon Resort on Potholes Reservoir said early this week that ice was forming rapidly on the lake, and that by this weekend there could well be enough to safely dunk a worm for perch or walleye.
The Lind Coulee Arm of the reservoir, and Long Lake, below the reservoir, are usually the first two ice fisheries to come on line, Meseberg said, and both will produce perch and walleye.
