Panthers stay unbeaten with win

SNOHOMISH — The Snohomish boys basketball team entered Saturday’s matchup with visiting Marysville-Pilchuck undefeated in Wesco North play.

Marysville-Pillchuck left unable to dent the Panthers’ perfect record.

Snohomish played tough defense and took advantage of an off shooting night from Marysville-Pilchuck’s Taylor Stevens, who finished more than 18 points shy of his season average of 21.7 points, to take a 57-25 victory.

“We made shots and they missed them,” Snohomish coach Len Bone said of his team, which jumped out to a 15-2 lead to open the game. “We played good, alert defense.”

Zach Wilde scored 17 points and pulled down eight rebounds and Brad Jeffries chipped in four points and eight rebounds for Snohomish, which outscored the Tomahawks in every quarter but the second.

Blake Lovell scored five points for Marysville-Pilchuck and Stevens finished with three.

“Both teams had good looks, and Marysville-Pilchuck is a good scoring team” Bone said. “It’s just one of those nights when you’re glad to be the team that’s connecting.”
