Just a couple of days left to take in the Seattle Boat Show, which runs through Saturday at the CenturyLink Field Event Center. Hours Friday are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Prices are $14 for adults, $5 for youth 11-17, and free for kids 10 and under. For a variety of special ticket packages with free parking and other bonuses, visit www.seattleboatshow.com.
And there are still some excellent free seminars to be had. While salmon remain undoubtedly the top draw for anglers in Puget Sound, Dungeness crabbing is coming on fast, and Clyde McBrayer, a veteran of the state Fish and Wildlife Commission, is an expert. He’ll talk crabbing tips at 2 and 5 p.m. Friday, and at 1 p.m. Saturday.
Other notables still to be heard from include local resident and host of “The Outdoor Line” radio talk show, TJ Nelson, with the scoop on San Juan Islands chinook at 3 p.m. Friday. No one knows Possession Bar and surrounding hot spots like Everett resident and All Star Charters owner/skipper Gary Krein, and he’ll provide central Sound salmon answers at 4 p.m. Friday. Chiming in with the same information will be Nick Kester at 6 p.m. Saturday.
And while the majority of Puget Sound salmon anglers troll for their fish, mooching can be very effective as well. Keith Robbins is a master of the technique and offers his how-to, where-to at 5 p.m. Saturday.
