Saying goodbye: The AquaSox spent their last day with their host families, who were recognized in a pre-game ceremony.
Saying goodbye to each other after Wednesday’s season finale will be even tougher, said catcher Eddie Olszta.
“But, hopefully, we’ll all see each other again in the spring,” he said. “You spend all summer together, you get to know one another and become good friends.”
Olszta said the team would like nothing more than to leave town on a favorable note.
“We want to play a good game and come out with a win,” he said.
Coaches awards: The AquaSox coaching staff presented its season awards prior to Sunday’s game. Outfielder John Williamson won the Lou Gehrig Award given in conjunction with the club’s season-long effort to raise funds for the ALS Foundation. The most inspirational award went to Emmanuel Santana. The most valuable pitcher award was shared by Ryan Ketchner and Jorge Sosa. The most valuable player award was given to shortstop Jose Lopez.
