Last week the gears began moving with regards to bringing an NHL team to Seattle, and I want to know what you think.
Two big events occurred last week to bring the NHL closer to Seattle. First, the City of Seattle approved OVG’s $650 million plan to renovate KeyArena for the purpose of luring NBA and NHL teams back to the city. Second, NHL commissioner Gary Bettman announced that the league has agreed to consider an expansion application from Seattle. As a result, for the first time there’s real momentum in the drive to bring the NHL to Seattle, perhaps as soon as the 2020-2021 season.
So what’s your reaction to that news?
There’s lots of possible ways to feel about this. Maybe you’re a rabid hockey fan who wants as much hockey available within driving distance as possible. Maybe you’re an Everett Silvertips fan who’s concerned about the possibility of the Tips being crowded out by brighter lights. Maybe you’re a casual hockey fan who was never drawn in by junior hockey, but may be by the NHL. Or maybe you don’t care about hockey at all.
Whatever your disposition, I want to know.
First, here’s a poll to voice your opinion:
But as someone who’s hovered around the Silvertips since 2003, I’m interested in more than just a poll. I want to hear directly from you, too. I want to know how you personally feel about the prospect of the NHL coming to Seattle.
So please respond either by sending me an email at npatterson@heraldnet.com, or by providing a comment either below the post or in the poll. I plan on sharing your thoughts in a future Sunday column.
Thanks for your feedback!
