OK, this is pretty well done from the Seattle Sounders’ biggest rivals. Thanks to a tight playoff race, the Timbers are in the uncomfortable spot of needing help from the Sounders. You see, Portland is locked in a battle with Vancouver for the fifth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference, and with the Whitecaps playing in Seattle Friday, the Timbers could really use some help from their, um, friends?
And in case Timbers fans felt conflicted about cheering for their enemies, Timbers owner Merritt Paulson wrote up a permission slip for his team’s fans, allowing them to root for the enemy for two hours.
