The Huskies are out enjoying a hot afternoon practice right now. Here’s what we saw in the first 25 minutes of practice that are open to the media.
Jake Locker was one of four players not suited up for practice along with TJ Poe (clavicle), Michael Gottlieb (hamstring) and Matt Sedillo (concussion). Jason Wells, Victor Aiyewa and Chancellor Young all started practice on stationary bikes (as did Locker) but the three all looked to be participating in drills after that.
As we left, Locker was doing some running and footwork (running a few steps forward, then to the side, then backwards) with a trainier, apparently testing out his hamstring. He has now missed nine practices since suffering the injury last Thursday.
Also, I talked briefly with new UW commit Nathan Fellner, a safety from Fresno. He said he chose Washington because “I love Washington, I love the city, the school, the campus, I love the coaches.”
Fellner said he is excited to be a part of return to winning football at Washington.
“I’m really excited to be a part of that,” he said. “I think Coach Willingham is turning it around. I know Washington is going to turn things around.”
Fellner described himself as an “instinctive safety” who likes to hit.
