Greetings from Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver. It’s about an hour-and-a-half until game time and here’s a brief update:
First, here’s what I know about Jonathan Harty. Harty suffered a hip injury, not a leg injury, in last night’s game in Kelowna, his hip getting crunched into the boards on a hit from Jamie Benn. People have been tight-lipped about the severity of the injury so far, but he apparently was in a lot of pain and he’s definitely out tonight.
Also out tonight is Harty’s defensive partner, Graham Potuer, who has the flu. That means all three of Everett’s 17-year-old rookie defensemen — Matt Strong, Eddie Friesen and Chris de la Lande — will be in the lineup tonight against a tough Vancouver team. Quite the test for those three.
I’m also told Eric English will be in the lineup tonight. Hmmm, English in the lineup against Vancouver. We’ll see what happens with that.
UPDATE
Well, Potuer’s out there for warmups, so maybe he’ll be able to go after all. If he plays de la Lande will be scratched.
