Kamiak boys basketball

The sophomore point guard had key defensive and offensive efforts that helped the Knights qualify for the state tournament for the first time in school history.

Iddins locked down Marysville-Pilchuck star Jared Stohl Feb. 22 in Kamiak’s 65-50 first-round Class 4A District 1 tournament victory. M-P’s leading scorer at 17 points per game, Stohl managed just 11 points Feb. 22 and his one 3-point basket came when Iddins took a brief trip to the bench.

On Saturday, Iddins went wild from long range, hitting a game-best six 3-point shots en route to a team-high 20 points in Kamiak’s 68-62 winner-to-state triumph over Shorewood.

Iddins will try to boost his team to even loftier heights when the Knights (16-6 overall) play Mountlake Terrace (19-4) for the district championship at 8 p.m. Saturday at Jackson High School.

Also a starting defensive back for the Kamiak football team this year, Iddins said it felt great to help make school history by securing Kamiak’s first boys basketball state tournament berth.

“It’s been our goal since the very first practice,” he said. “We’re not gonna stop here. We still got the Wesco championship game.”

Iddins (9.9 ppg) fills the net when needed but also boosts the Knights in a variety of ways.

“I’m kind of the guy who does whatever it takes to win,” Iddins said.
