Prep Athletes of the Week

The senior receiver/defensive back caught three passes, two for touchdowns, for 100 yards, returned a fumble recovery for a touchdown, buried Edmonds-Woodway at its own 3-yard line with a 54-yard punt with one minute, 43 seconds to play and intercepted a pass to end E-W’s last possession in a 27-24 Jackson victory.

“It was fun to watch,” Jackson coach Joel Vincent said. “He was all over the place.”

Vincent said Tri is almost fully recovered from the hyper-extended elbow injury that knocked him out of the second half of the Kamiak game. Tri played heavily taped the next week and still managed to catch a 70-yard TD pass.

“We are of the opinion that he is a playmaker for us,” Vincent said. “We want to get the ball in his hands as much as we can in a variety of ways.”

The 6-foot-2, 185-pound senior is being recruited by the Northwest Pacific 10 Conference schools.

“I’m always handing him letters,” Vincent said. “I think they’re looking at him as an athlete. They’ll determine later on whether he’ll be a strong safety, free safety or receiver.”
