Prep Athletes of the Week 5/17-5/23

Ian Oxnevad &Cole McKisson

Shorewood | Baseball

Oxnevad pitched 11 scoreless innings in a 1-0 victory over Lake Washington in the first round of the 3A state baseball tournament on Saturday. Oxnevad was relieved by Cole McKisson, who picked up a save against the Kangaroos and went on to pitch a complete game in a 7-4 win over Auburn Mountainview in the quarterfinals later that afternoon.

Megan Gordon &Erin Gordon

Everett | Softball

Megan Gordon hit her first career home run and her sister Erin batted 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored to help lead Everett to a 15-1 blowout victory over Meadowdale in the 3A District 1 championship game on Thursday.

Brady Henderson &Ryan Henderson

Archbishop Murphy | Boys Soccer

Brady Henderson scored two goals in an 8-0 victory over R.A. Long in the first round of the 2A state tournament on Wednesday and added another goal in a 3-2 shootout victory over Liberty in the state quarterfinals on Friday. His brother, goalie Ryan Henerson, combined with Trevor Johnston for a shutout in the win over R.A. Long and had a key save in the shootout win over Liberty on Friday.

Monica Kwong

Lynnwood | Girls Tennis

Kwong defeated Glacier Peak’s Madeline Mahler 6-4, 6-1 to win the 3A District 1 singles championship this past Wednesday.

Nicholas Blair

Everett | Boys Track

Blair’s throw of 53-3 was good enough to win the shot put on Wednesday at the 3A District 1 meet. Blair’s throw is the second best 3A throw in the state this season.

Kellianne Cavin

Snohomish | Girls Track

Cavin won the long jump with a leap of over 18 feet, the high jump with a leap of 5-4 and the triple jump with a mark of 37-5 at the 4A Bi-District meet this past weekend. Cavin’s marks in all three events are in the state’s top seven and she currently has the highest mark in the high jump.

Snohomish | Boys Golf

The Panthers had four of the 10 individual qualifiers for the state tournament at the 4A District 1 tournament on Thursday. Ethan Casto tied Jackson’s Arnold Ha for the best two-day score (148). Luke Kuna was third (149) and Ben Gardner and Keegan Willis finished tied for fifth (153).

Ana Maria Beall

Meadowdale | Girls Golf

Beall shot a two-day score of 181 to win the 3A District 1 championship this past Wednesday and qualify for this week’s state championships.

Joseph Prikhodko

Kamiak | Boys Lacrosse

Prikhodko saved 18 shots, 10 of which came in the first half, in a 14-5 loss to defending champion Bellevue in the quarterfinals of the state tournament on Thursday. It was just another double digit save performance for a freshman that has done it multiple times this season and was named a first-team all-league goalkeeper.
