YAKIMA — After finishing third at state the past two years, Cedarcrest will finally get a shot at the state title.
With a 12-1 win Friday against Othello at County Stadium in Yakima, the Red Wolves advanced to the 2A state championship game at 7 p.m. today.
A two-run home run by Cameron Padron in the third inning combined with a seven-run fourth inning and strong pitching by Travis Cook gave Cedarcrest the victory.
In addition to the home run, Padron batted 3-for-4 with a double and three RBI, and teammate Gunnar Swanson added two doubles, three RBI and hit 3-for-4.
Padron has lead the team in doubles, triples and home runs this season, noted Cedarcrest coach Scott Goldsberry.
Cook pitched a complete game, allowing four hits and striking out eight batters.
