OAK HARBOR — David Kusnick Jr. had a pinch-hit game-winning double in the bottom of the seventh to get Oak Harbor the Wesco 3A win. Wilcats starting pitcher Jack Richter carried a no hitter into the top of the seventh but gave up a single, Shorewood’s only hit, and a run to fall behind 1-0. In the bottom of the seventh, the Wildcats got a walk, followed by a bunt single and another walk to set the table for Kusnick, who ended the game with a two-run double.
“It was well pitched on both sides,” said Oak Harbor head coach Tyson Van Dam who noted that the Wildcats stranded approximately eight runners to Shorewood’s two.
“It was a big win for us going into a week when we needed to win the week. It was a good start for us,” added Van Dam.
