STANWOOD — The weekend-long wait was worth it for Oak Harbor as the Wildcats defeated Stanwood on Monday in the conclusion of a Wesco 3A game that was rained out after three innings on Friday with a 2-2 tie.
Senior shortstop Brent Mertins drove in three runs and Kevin Johnson walked three times and came around to score twice for Oak Harbor. Avery Aguirre pitched six strong innings for the Wildcats and was relieved by junior ace pitcher Tyler Snavely who earned his third save on the season.
With their seventh conference win, Oak Harbor entered a tie with Marysville Pilchuck for first place in Wesco 3A North.
