STANWOOD — Collin McKenzie threw a no-hitter to lead Stanwood past Everett in a Wesco 3A North contest.
The first batter McKenzie faced reached base after being hit by a pitch. The junior right-hander then retired the next 15 batters, including three strikeouts. The game was stopped after five innings in accordance with the 10-run rule.
Ryan Verbarendse homered and drove in five runs for the Spartans, who improved to 6-5.
