PREP BASEBALL/SOFTBALL ROUNDUP: Mountlake Terrace sweeps Meadowdale

LYNNWOOD — Behind another strong outing from its starting pitcher, Mountlake Terrace completed the series sweep of Meadowdale with a 8-0 victory Wednesday night.

Alex Hatch took the ball for the Hawks one day after Andrew Woeck’s complete-game, 14-strikeout performance and fared pretty well himself.

Hatch — who pitched four innings — combined with relievers Kevin Sheets and Zach Bistline on a one-hit shutout of the Mavericks.

“Hatch was terrific,” Meadowdale head coach Bill Hummel said. “The whole series their pitchers were the story. The difference between our pitchers and their’s were that their’s threw strikes and ours didn’t. Hatch did an excellent job mixing up his fastball and changeup all game.”

Ryan Sickle connected on a one-out pitch with the bases loaded in the first inning for a grand slam and Hatch helped his own cause with an RBI single as Mountlake Terrace put up a six spot in the first inning. Sickle finished the game 1-for-4 with four RBI.
