Prep basketball: Marysville-Pilchuck uses size advantage to beat Everett

MARYSVILLE — Marysville-Pilchuck combined a strong team offense, led by Nick Soriano’s 10 points and two 3-point goals, a powerful defense and a distinct height advantage to defeat Everett in a Wesco North boys basketball game Tuesday at Marysville-Pilchuck High School.

Tomahawks post Spencer Elwell, a 6-foot-8 senior, used his size to control the ball and earn his first triple-double (11 points, 12 rebounds, 11 blocked shots).

Marysville-Pilchuck jumped to an early 28-12 halftime lead and retained its lead throughout the second half, despite solid offense by game high-scorer Flynn Mattson (15 points) of Everett.
