MILL CREEK — Nick Forsythe picked the right game to shine in.

In a loser out game of the 4A District 1 boys basketball tournament, Forsythe scored 17 points, including the final three that put Marysville-Pilchuck ahead for good in a 51-49 win at Jackson High School.

With M-P behind by one, Forsythe hit a field goal with less than a minute to go to give the Tomahawks the lead. After Snohomish missed a basket, it was forced to foul Forsythe with 3.9 seconds to play. He made the first of a one-and-one opportunity, but missed the second. However M-P recovered the rebound and ran the clock out.

Forsythe had 15 of his 17 in the second half — nine points in the 3rd quarter and six in the fourth.

Blain Ortiz led Snohomish’s effort with 18 points, and senior Brian Wolfe added 11 for the Panthers, who led most of the way.

The Tomahawks play the loser of today’s Stanwood-Mountlake Terrace game in another loser-out game Tuesday.
