BOTHELL — Grant Pattison wasted no time in getting his season off to a good start.
The senior forward hit three 3-pointers right out of the gate to give the Edmonds-Woodway boys basketball team an early 9-0 lead that it would never relinquish in its 49-44 defeat of Lynnwood on Tuesday night.
Lynnwood’s inexperienced squad — only one player comes into the season with varsity experience — got out to a slow start and couldn’t overcome Pattison’s hot early shooting.
“If we would have had a bit better start we would have been in the game and could have done some things. We just couldn’t overcome that nine-point deficit,” Lynnwood head coach Darrell McNeal said.
Pattison finished with 12 points and Travis Bakken chipped in 10. The two were the only players in double-figures for Edmonds-Woodway.
“They’re pretty big inside (so) they hurt us on the boards,” McNeal added.
“We’re learning. We’re going to get better each game. Tonight was a test for them and I was real happy with how they responded.”
