MOUNTLAKE TERRACE — The Glacier Peak boys basketball team held Mountlake Terrace to just 11 points in the second half to earn a 43-33 victory in a defensive Wesco 3A South battle.
“I think our guys did a good job of understanding their assignments,” Glacier Peak head coach Brian Hunter said. “We had some decent pressure on the basketball and ultimately we limited them to one shot, which is really important. Solid defense doesn’t end until you actually get the basketball.”
During the third quarter the Grizzlies held the Hawks to zero points but couldn’t take much advantage of their defense, scoring just three points of their own.
“Give Terrace some credit they played some solid defense on us,” Hunter said. “There were opportunities to score but we were struggling for some reason.”
Zach Hatch and Jacob Middendorf each scored 11 points to lead the Grizzlies.
“They both hits some big shots for us,” Hunter said. “They contributed when we needed them to get some looks, which is big in a game like this.”
Joey Gardner scored a team-high nine points for Mountlake Terrace.
