Prep boys basketball: Kamiak 62, Glacier Peak 55

SNOHOMISH — With two starters out, Kamiak reserve players Liam Jouett and Quinn Carlson stepped up to help their team take its second victory in as many days 62-55 over Glacier Peak Wednesday night.

According to Kamiak head coach Cory West, in addition to scoring six points, Jouett took a charge and played great defense.

For Glacier Peak, the big number was 32. That’s how many points Zack Pederson put up. He also snared 11 rebounds in a game that might have gone differently.

“Pederson might have had 40 or 50 points,” said West, were it not for Carlson. “He played great D (defense) on Pederson, though it might not have looked like it (from the numbers).”

The score was tied 28-28 at halftime, and, according to West, it was Kamiak’s teamwork that made the difference in the second half.

“We played great team ball. Our scoring was distributed. We had three guys in double digits. It has been a goal of ours to stick together. We chipped away, and when we got a lead we never looked back.”
