SEATTLE — King’s was plagued by poor rebounding, allowing 22 offensive boards, in a 52-47 loss against Lynden in a non-conference matchup on Saturday.
“The deciding factor was we just couldn’t get a rebound,” King’s head coach Rick Skeen said. “It was one of our keys to control the backboard tonight and we just couldn’t do it.”
The Knights cut the deficit to one with under two minutes remaining but Jonathan Whatnall hit one of his four 3-pointers and King’s was never able to make a final push. Whatnall finished with a game-high 20 points.
Corey Kispert led the Knights with 17 points and two 3-pointers.
“I thought we should have got the ball to him more,” Skeen said. “(Lynden) was one of the best defensive teams we played all year, and he just didn’t get a lot of good looks.”
