MONROE — Trenton Newhouse scored 10 points as Monroe held off a late rally to defeat Mariner in the first round of the 4A Boys District 1 Tournament.
Kevin Villalobos scored 10 points to lead the Marauders.
Devin Sepich scored eight points and Rhen Shore added eight points, 10 rebounds and four blocks for the Bearcats.
Monroe advances to play Snohomish on Saturday at 4:45 p.m. at Everett Community College. The Marauders will play in a loser-out game on Tuesday.
